Ismaili, who will play in the elite competition for the first time since 2003, were paired with Kenyan side Sofapaka in the Champions League first round.

The coastal club's last participation saw them reach the final before losing to Nigeria's Enyimba 2-1 on aggregate.

They had a chance to take part in the lucrative competition last season but opted to participate in the Arab Champions League.

Six-time African champions and Egyptian league winners Ahli have been given a bye into the round of 32.

They will face either Zanzibar's Mafunzo or Zimbabwean side Gunners in the second round.

In the Confederation Cup, Africa's secondary competition, debutants Petrojet, who finished third in the Egyptian league last season, will face Zanzibar's Miembeni.

Harras Hodoud, who will make a second successive appearance, will play the winner of the game between Ethiopia's Banks and AFC Leopards of Kenya.
