Real Madrid, Milan through to knock-out stage

Real Madrid and Milan qualified to the round of the 16 in the Champions League after snatching the first two spots in Group C.

Real finished the group stage in first place with 13 points, followed by Milan on nine points.

The Spanish side beat Marseille 3-1 away on Tuesday night thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo double.

The Portuguese winger opened the score line early in the first-half with a fantastic free-kick before Lucho Gonzalez equalized for the hosts.

Defender Raul Albiol put Real Madrid ahead again before Ronaldo sealed the victory 10 minutes from time.

In Zurich, Ronaldinho scored from the spot to give Milan a 1-1 draw with Zurich.

Milan Gajic put Zurich ahead through a free-kick on 29 minutes before the Brazilian playmaker converted a penalty kick past keeper Johnny Leoni in the 65th minute.
