Hosni Abd-Rabou's Ahli Dubai were eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup after losing 2-0 to New Zealand's Auckland City in the tournament's curtain-raiser on Wednesday.

Adam Dickinson, who was found unmarked by a low cross from the right, stunned the home crowd with an easy tap-in on the stroke of halftime.

Chad Coombes sealed the victory seven minutes past the hour mark with an unstoppable left-footed shot that left the keeper with no chance.

Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou played the whole game but hardly made an impact as the hosts were outplayed by Auckland.

Auckland will face Mexican side Atlante in the quarter finals on Saturday.

The winners will advance to meet European and Spanish champions Barcelona, who are given a bye into the semi final.
