ميدو قوة كان من الممكن توظيفها أمام العنف الأفريقي

Zamalek striker Mido will be sidelined for approximately a week after suffering a minor back problem in the Cairo side's 1-0 win over Mansoura on Sunday.

The towering hitman fell down all of the sudden in the first half of the game with no challengers in close proximity, and was taken off as a result.

After the match, Zamalek chief medic Mostafa Al-Monayeri revealed that the former Tottenham Hotspur marksman picked up a back muscle strain.

"Mido sustained a problem related to the muscles that move the backbone, but he won't be out of action for more than a week," Al-Monayeri told Modern TV.

The White Knights shouldn't be affected by Mido's absence, as the Egyptian league has been halted due to Egypt's preparations for the African Cup of Nations (CAN), which gets underway next month.

Moreover, the negligible injury won't dent the 26-year-old's hopes to be called up to the Pharaohs' squad for the continental competition.

Mido is widely expected to be named in Egypt's squad for the first time in quite a while, because his fellow striker Amr Zaki was rule out of CAN with a hamstring injury.
