Ahli football director Hadi Khashaba announced that his club have reached an agreement with Emad Meteb over a contract extension for the talented striker.

"We were in talks with Meteb over a new deal, and both parties are on the same page," Khashaba told Ahli's official site.

Recent reports suggested that the 26-year-old didn't want to renew his Ahli contract because he's eager to start a new adventure abroad.

However, Khashaba assured that Meteb's contract will be extended in the near future.

"This whole issue will be wrapped up within the next few days," he added.

Meteb's current contract runs out by the end of the current season, and thus he could opt to join any other club by the January transfer window if he didn't pen a new deal.

The Ahli homegrown player missed the early games of the season through injury.

He has so far featured for Ahli in five games, scoring a single goal against Military Production.

The Egyptian champions are understood to be planning to table new deals for some of their regulars, including Mohamed Barakat and Ahmed Al-Sayed.
