The Portuguese winger has already won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2008 and is considered to be one of the best players in the world.

He also scooped the Ballon d'Or award, which is given to the best player in Europe by France Football magazine, in the same year.

He finished as runner-up to Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi in both awards this year.

"By God's grace I have already won the Ballon d'Or. But I hope to win it again - either this year or next - but I will win it again," Ronaldo said in an interview with Marca.

"I have an ambition to become the best player in history."

Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United in the summer and scored seven goals in the first half of the season despite suffering from continuous injury problems.
