Schalke have decided to severely fine Jefferson Farfan and Rafinha after both players failed to get back in time after their Christmas vacations.

The Bundesliga team resumed training shortly after Christmas on Wednesday, but the duo didn't show up.

Schalke manager Felix Magath said whoever took an unauthorized vacation will be punished.

"I wasn't expecting everybody to return to Germany in time after the break. However, the players who return too late will be handed a severe fine," said Magath.

From his side, Farfan told Bild: "The club knew that I wouldn't be back in time. I know that I will be punished for returning too late, but I accept that."
