Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan has joined Egypt's training camp, which is held in Dubai in the defending champions' preparation for the African Cup of Nations (CAN).

The 28-year-old was given permission to catch up with the Pharaohs in UAE later than the rest of his teammates, because of his club commitments.

Zidan should take part in Egypt's training session on Saturday night, and is expected to be named for the six-time African champions' friendly match with Mali on Monday.

Egypt coach Hassan Shehata is keen to keep his team's preparations behind closed doors at Ahli Dubai.

According to Ahli Dubai's executive Abdul Karim Al-Hag, Shehata has given security men strict instructions to prevent media personnel and fans from attending his team's training to avoid possible distractions.

The African Cup of Nations gets underway on January 10th.
