Zamalek have denied on Thursday claims that they seek to sign Ittihad Jeddah's Moroccan forward Hicham Aboucherouane.

Local reports said the Cairo club have reached an agreement with Saudi giants Ittihad to sign Aboucherouane next summer.

"Those reports are totally untrue," Zamalek icon and board member Hazem Emam told the club's official website.

"We respect Aboucherouane but we did not make any move for him.

"I hope the press will be careful when they publish any stories like that. They should contact us to know whether the story is true or not."

Aboucherouane, who joined Ittihad from Tunisia's Esperance in the summer of 2008, has been linked with moves to Cairo duo Zamalek and Ahli on several occasions during the past few years.

Zamalek are reportedly looking for new strikers after Amr Zaki and Mido joined English sides Hull City and West Ham respectively in the January transfer window.

Coach Hossam Hassan is currently relying on Ahmed Gaafar as a lone frontman.

The White Knights have signed two attacking midfielders in Hussein Yasser and Rainford Kalaba.

Yasser made his debut in Zamalek's 2-0 victory over ENPPI but Zambian international Kalaba, who joined from Portuguese side Sporting Braga on loan until the end of the season, is yet to link up with his new teammates.

"He said he needs two more days to sort out some problems with Braga before arriving in Cairo," Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan said.
