Italian reports linked the French defender, whose contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, with a move to Roma.

Gallas might be reunited with Ranieri, who signed him while he was managing Chelsea in 2001.

"William has done well at Chelsea and Arsenal," the Italian tactician told a news conference.

"All the top players would do well at Roma," he added without giving further details.

Ranieri has turned around Roma's fortunes since taking over at the club in September last year.

However, defensive fragility have cost Roma dearly and resulted in them exiting the Europa League after a 6-4 aggregate defeat to Greek side Panathinaikos.

They could turn to Gallas, 32, to improve their shaky backline next season.
