"There is nothing wrong with the refereeing in Egypt," he told Modern TV. "But there must be several mistakes in every game and that is football all around the world.

"Eight matches were played from the 23rd round, seven of which didn't witness any objection against the referee.

"There were only two mistakes in Ahli's match with ENPPI, and that's actually an acceptable rate.

"The majority of the Egyptian teams filed complaints against the referees. This proves that these mistakes were all inadvertent."

Ahli came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win at ENPPI in Thursday's league game.

The hosts had two goals disallowed for offside either side of the interval.

Striker Ahmed Abdul-Zaher appeared to be played onside by Ahli's right-back Ahmed Ali when he found the net in the first half but international referee Samir Othman ruled out his effort.

Ivorian frontman Vincent Die Foneye scored another goal in the second period, nonetheless; ENPPI were once again denied by the whistle of Othman, who took into consideration the flag of his assistants.

"When a referee makes a mistake, we take action. But we wouldn't gun him down for a slip-up," Hossam added sarcastically.

Egyptian referees have been already criticized by several teams in the league, including Ahli who said they considered asking the Egyptian FA to bring in foreign officials for their games.

Promoted Mansoura, who look destined to go down after one season in the top flight, threatened to withdraw from the premier domestic competition after losing 1-0 to Police Union earlier this month.
