"No, no, definitely not," Ferguson said when asked about whether he intends to sell Berbatov.

"He is a fantastic footballer and he will be with us next year."

Berbatov has failed to win over United fans since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2008.

The 29-year-old, who announced his retirement from international football earlier this month, has scored just 26 goals since his arrival at Old Trafford.

"There's speculation every year - some summers I'm signing 100 players. You've got to live with that sort of media hype about the club," Ferguson added.

"There's been a bit about Berbatov in terms of his future but we know he's a good player."
