Mourinho has been linked with Real Madrid for a long time and the highly-rated manager admitted that the prospect of working with Spanish titans appeals to him.

The charismatic Portuguese is yet to confirm when he will leave Inter but he's widely expected to be hired by Real starting next season.

Figo implied that Mourinho's departure would negatively affect the Nerazzurri but tried to be upbeat over Inter's future.

"It is always difficult to replace one of the best tacticians in the world and especially someone who has a strong rapport with the supporters," said Figo.

"In any case, life must go on. If you lose the best, then you have to find an alternative.

"The decision is in the air. The President has made the right choice in the past and will now pick someone who knows how to lead the squad.

"We are a group, a team unit, and the worst thing would be to destroy it."
