Robert Vittek recorded Slovakia's first-ever World Cup goal, but celebrations were cut out when Winston Reid grabbed a dramatic equalizer for Kiwi.

Slovakia and New Zealand join Italy and Paraguay as all teams have one point and a single goal.

There was hardly a threat on goal until the half-hour mark, when both teams seemed to get rid of early nerves.

Stanislav Sestak fired inches wide as Chris Killen replied for New Zealand with a tight-angled shot, before Slovakia star Marek Hamsik forced a good save from Mark Paston before the break.

Shortly after the interval, Slovakia celebrated their first ever World Cup goal.

Following some fine passing, Sestak crossed into the box for Vittek, who notched in a wonderfully-placed header past the New Zealand keeper.

Television replays however proved that the Slovakia forward was in an offside position.

The Slovaks played on the counter after scoring the opener, and were eventually punished for some sloppy defending in the final 30 seconds of injury time.
