Smouha have signed DR Congo striker Lelo Mbele from Sudanese giants Hilal, the Egyptian Premier League promoted side announced on Wednesday.

"The club has continued its high-profile signings with the acquisition of Mbele," Smouha said in a statement on their official website.

"Given his great physical and technical attributes, the club believes Mbele would be a valuable addition to the football team's squad."

Smouha, who will play in the top flight for the first time in their history, did not disclose the length of the deal nor the transfer fee.

Mbele began his career with AS Vita Club in his homeland in 2003 before moving to South African side Amazulu F.C.

He also played for fellow South African side Orlando Pirates, Saudi Arabia's Hilal and Tunisian duo Sfaxien and Esperance before joining Sudan's Hilal in January 2009.

The 22-year-old was a member of the DR Congo side who reached the 2006 African Cup of Nations quarter-finals before losing to eventual winners and tournament hosts Egypt.

He is the second frontman to move to Smouha after Ahmed Belal, who joined as a free agent after his contract with Ahli expired.

Smouha have also landed Gaish keeper Wael Khalifa as they bid to retain their place among the elites.

Khalifa penned a three-year contract with the Alexandria-based club after failing to play regular first-team football at Gaish.

Smouha are managed by former Egypt coach Mohsen Saleh, who took charge of the team last month.
