Ismaili signed free agent Mostafa Gaafar on Thursday to add another striker to their ranks few hours before the closure of the Egyptian transfer window.

Former Zamalek frontman Gaafar was released by Masri after failing to impress at the Port Said-based club last season.

Ismaili moved to reinforce their frontline upon the recommendation of Dutch coach Mark Wotte.

Wotte was disappointed after seeing the coastal club slump to a 1-0 home defeat by Algeria's JS Kabylie in their Champions League group stage opener earlier this week.

He rued the lack of reliable strikers, with Mohsen Abou-Greisha and Ahmed Ali failing to trouble opposing defense during the game.

Ismaili have on Wednesday wrapped up the signing of Moroccan forward Abdessalam Benjelloun.

They are also stepping up their efforts to acquire the services of Angolan striker Luwamo Garcia, who plays for Greek side Ethnikos Asteras.

The three-time Egyptian champions have until midnight to complete a deal for him.
