The Egyptian wing-back moved to Sunderland on a season-long loan from ENPPI to realize a long-held dream.

He made his debut with the Black Cats in their 1-0 friendly victory over Darlington after coming on as a second-half substitute instead of midfielder Lee Cattermole.

He is also likely to feature in Saturday's game against Hull in Portuguese city Albufeira.

"Ahmed is out here with us now and I think the Sunderland fans will enjoy watching him," Bruce said on the club's official website.

"He's a bit of a throwback. He's lightning quick and loves to put crosses in.

"We know Ahmed has to adapt and we don't want to put too much pressure on him, but he has 30-odd caps for his country already.

"I've seen him two or three times and watched him play against England at Wembley where I thought he was terrific."

Al-Muhammadi said recently he hoped to make a fine impact to earn a permanent stay with Sunderland.

"He is desperate to do well and I'm sure he will," Bruce, who also managed fellow Egyptians Mido and Amr Zaki at Wigan Athletic, added.
