Ahli full-back Sayed Moawad said he didn’t mean to provoke Ismaili fans after his side's late winner in Sunday's Champions League victory.

The former Ismaili captain pointed to the Ahli badge on his shirt before the Dervishes supporters, following Wael Gomaa's 94th minute stunner.

Talks of a bust-up with current Ismaili skipper Mohamed Hommos were suggested, but Moawad denied the allegations as he defended his stance.

"The Ismaili fans showered me with insults since the start of the game, so after the second goal, I ran towards them and pointed to the Ahli shirt," the Egypt full-back told FilGoal.com.

"Hommos tried to push me away from the fans, but there wasn’t any tension between us because we are friends.

"I still respect the Ismaili and I have a good relationship with the board and players, but what happened from the fans was too much and I didn’t cross the line anyway."

Moawad signed for Ahli in 2008, following eight years in Ismailia.
