Bob Bradley and Sven Goran Eriksson are the frontrunners to take Aston Villa's helm following the sudden departure of coach Martin O'Neill, according to media reports.

O'Neill handed in his resignation on Monday after spending four years at the Premiership side. Kevin MacDonald is currently Villa's interim boss.

Other prominent names have been tipped to succeed O'Neill at Villa, such as Martin Jol and Jurgen Klinsmann.

But United States tactician Bradley and former Ivory Coast coach Eriksson are understood to be on top of the Villans' wish list.

Eriksson's agent Athole said Villa have not contacted his agent thus far.

"There has been no contact from Aston Villa," he said on Tuesday.

"Sven gets associated with a lot of big jobs but, as we speak, there has been no contact from Aston Villa."
