Essam Al-Hadari clarified his comments about Egypt and Zamalek mate Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed in the wake of the latter's criticism.

Abdul-Wahed said Al-Hadari needs to be more reasonable after the Egypt number one made a controversial statement over the goalkeeper selection in Zamalek's league opener with Hodoud.

"The whole matter was over-handled by the media," said Al-Hadari, who claimed he almost started against Hodoud.

"I was just making things clear without meaning any disrespect to a goalkeeper of Abdul-Wahed's caliber. He has always been a good performer for Zamalek.

"When I agreed to join Zamalek, I was eager to work with Abdul-Wahed for the sake of the team, I wasn’t looking for any trouble."

Al-Hadari is likely to start for Egypt in Wednesday's friendly with DR Congo as Abdul-Wahed is set to start on the bench.
