Spanish giants Real Madrid have announced the signing of Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen on Tuesday.

"Real Madrid C. F. and SV Werder Bremen have agreed to the transfer of Mesut Ozil," the nine-time European champions announced on their official website.

Neither the fee nor the length of the contract has been disclosed by either side. However, it is believed Los Merengues will pay 15 million Euros to acquire the services of Ozil.

The 21-year-old German international has been linked with several European powerhouses after an excellent World Cup campaign this summer.

"His unique touch, unmatched individual technique, excellent ball control and deadly last pass make the German midfielder one of the brightest up-and-coming stars in European football," read Real Madrid's statement.

Ozil is Real's second German signing this summer following compatriot Sami Khedira who completed a move from Stuttgart in July.

Only last week did the talented playmaker confirm his interest in joining Real Madrid.

"When you have such an opportunity like this, then you want to take it," Oezil is quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Saturday.

Ozil, whose contract with Werder Bremen was to expire next June, also featured for Schalke between 2006 and 2008.
