"Gilberto passed a medical after reaching an agreement with Lierse over his transfer," Nader Shawki told FilGoal.com.

"He will pen a two-year contract with the club within the next few hours."

Angolan international Gilberto will join Lierse on a free transfer after being released by Egyptian champions Ahli, where he spent a highly-successful eight-year spell.

The 27-year-old joined Ahli from Angolan side Petro Atletico in 2002 and went on to become one of the backbones of a powerful side that won a host of local and continental titles.

He won with the Red Devils six Egyptian Premier League titles, three Egyptian Cups and three African Champions League accolades.

Lierse, who are owned by Egyptian businessman Maged Sami, made a disastrous start to their top-flight campaign after losing their first three games.

The club boast three Egyptian players in attacking midfielders Mohamed Abdul-Wahed, forward Dodo Al-Gabbas and winger Ahmed Samir.
