Boateng sustained the injury in friendly game against Denmark this month, but was frustrated when a plane stewardess hit his knee with a drinks trolley while on his way back from Cpenhagen.

"It's annoying. I imagined my start at Manchester City to be quite different, of course," the 22-year-old told Sport1.

"Next Wednesday, I'm up travelling to see (the German team's doctor) Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt in Munich for treatment."

Boateng joined City for €12.5million from Hamburg this summer.
