"The league stoppage won't benefit Zamalek. It would have been better if the competition had just gone on," he told the club's official site.

"I wanted Zamalek to have a chance to atone for their last defeat to ENPPI and cheer up their frustrated fans."

The Whites lost 3-1 at the petroleum side on August 23rd in their last league game, to incur the wrath of head coach Hossam Hassan and his twin brother Ibrahim.

The Cairo side's upcoming league match with Ismaili has been postponed as a result of the latter team's African commitments.

The Dervishes face Heartland in Nigeria on Sunday in the CAF Champions League group stage.

"We will be dealing with the team's weaknesses. We will also play a number of friendly matches in the next few days," Ibrahim added.

Zamalek are now in seventh place with four points in the league table, having played three matches.

The Egyptian Premier League will be halted after Saturday's games for approximately two weeks.
