The towering center-half sustained a facial injury after clashing with an Azerbaijani player in Tuesday's 5-1 EURO qualifiers win.

"The 25-year-old, as things stand at the moment, will miss the Bundesliga match against Bayern on Saturday," a statement from the German federation DFB read.

Bremen and Bayern are both tied at three points as the two teams won one game and lost another in the new season so far.
