Mansour, who finished second behind current Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas in last summer's elections, insisted that his rival's victory was unlawful.

The renowned attorney eventually won his appeal, having based his protest on the claim that a large number of votes were made by unregistered members.

The decision was announced on Wednesday, meaning that the current board, led by Abbas, is set to be sacked.

An interim board of directors will be in the charge of the Cairo club until the upcoming elections in July 2011.

Promise

Meanwhile, Mansour was delighted to win his appeal as he looks set to re-run for the presidential post in next year's elections.

"I want to thank the fair court of law for ensuring justice," Mansour, who served nine months in prison in 2007, said.

"I got a promise from Hassan Sakr (president of the Supreme Council of Sport) that the current board will be investigated by the General Prosecution."
