Zamalek announced that they will pay for the renovations of Ahli's premises after a host of the Whites' ardent fans wreaked havoc inside and outside the Red Devils' headquarters.

Members of pro-Zamalek fan firm The White Knights clashed with police forces while trying to attend the handball Cairo derby, which Ahli won 22-28 at home on Tuesday.

The angry hooligans did quite some damages to one of Ahli's gates as well as other properties at the Cairo club.

Furthermore, many people sustained injuries in another post-match free-for-all when a group of Ahli's supporters decided to retaliate. Vehicles were damaged in the Mohadeseen district too.

The damages at Ahli haven't been estimated yet but Zamalek assured they will compensate for all of them.

"We decided to compensate for Ahli's damages," Zamalek's board member Ahmed Refaat told FilGoal.com.

"A letter has been sent to Ahli to inform them of our intention. We also want them to estimate their loss as soon as possible."

The violent brawls that preceded and followed the handball match caused widespread tension between both clubs' fans. Zamalek's initiative is expected to cool things down.
