Ajax manager Martin Jol revealed that Mido has yet to feature because he is overweight.
The Egyptian striker hasn’t even made Ajax's match squad since joining from Middlesbrough last month.
The 27-year-old initially set a two-week period to work on his significantly-low fitness, but it seems that he needs more than that.
"Mido is still slightly overweight," said Jol ahead of Ajax's 2-2 draw with Dutch champions Twente on Saturday night.
"He needs a few weeks to be available."
Mido's weight problems have usually hampered his progress both at club and country level.
The former Tottenham hitman was deemed surplus to the requirements of Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan at the start of the season for the very same reason.
He is now unlikely to make Ajax's squad for the midweek Champions League clash with AC Milan.
