With a delightful overhead kick, the 25-year-old hit a sensational goal that cancelled out the Dervishes' slender lead in Monday's Egyptian Premier League match.
Now Hefni is looking to impress one more time in MCDR's upcoming league game against Zamalek on Saturday, hoping to draw the attention of Egypt coach Hassan Shehata.
"Our game against Zamalek is of the utmost importance to me," he told FilGoal.com. "Millions will watch it and I'm looking to be at my best.
"I want to earn a place in Egypt's squad, that's one of my dreams."
Hefni has been a key figure in MCDR's squad, having regularly featured for the promoted side so far this season.
His displays were by far praiseworthy, which reportedly prompted a number top-flight sides to approach him.
"I'm committed to my contract with MCDR, so if any club want to sign me they have to contact them first," Hefni said when asked about his suitors.
