Media reports claimed that the 33-year-old had suffered a knee problem in Holland's 1-0 win over Moldova on Friday.

Consequently, the Bavarians called on the Dutch side to let Van Bommel travel to Germany for an examination on his knee.

However, the Dutch Football Federation turned them down on Tuesday, announcing that the veteran midfielder was fit only hours before Holland's European qualifier against Sweden.

"There are no medical problems and he will therefore remain in the Dutch squad," the federation said on its website.
