The Egyptian wing-back was praised by Sunderland coach Steve Bruce for producing some fine displays in the Premier League after joining on a season-long loan from ENPPI.
He has started all the team's league games so far this season, causing menace to opponents with his pace and penetration down the right flank.
"I like the vibe here," Elmohamady, nicknamed Elmo, was quoted as saying by Sunderland's official website on Wednesday.
"It's a nice place and people are so friendly. Everyone has been so helpful, especially here at the club. I feel as if I'm back home in Egypt."
Sunderland coach Steve Bruce said recently he would like to turn Elmohamady's loan deal into a permanent one in January.
The 23-year-old, who said he was delighted to play under the guidance of Bruce, is also ready to stay in the elite Premier League for the foreseeable future.
"I want to keep on playing in the Premier League, not for a year or two only. I want to do well for myself and my country," he added.
"The gaffer is a very good manager, and he’s so respectful. He likes commitment. He trusts his players and we should repay his trust."
