A last-gasp strike from Wadi Degla's Ashour Al-Taqui prevented Military Production from securing provisional top spot and ended the Egyptian Premier League match in a 1-1 draw on Monday.

Mohamed Abd-Rabou put the army team ahead five minutes past the hour mark when he headed home a Gomaa Mashour diagonal free kick.

But Production's slender lead was cancelled out deep into injury time after Al-Taqui came unmarked in the area to volley the equalizer.

Production are now in fourth place with 14 points, trailing current leaders Police Union by two. Wadi Degla lie 10th in the league table.

Hefni on Song

Elsewhere, MCDR sought-after striker Ayman Hefni widened Smouha's woes after he stuck in the dying minutes to give his team a 1-0 win.

Hefni, who was targeted by Ahli and Zamalek before his club issued a hands-off warning, converted a one-on-one chance to seal the victory, which lifted MCDR to seventh place with 11 points.

Promoted Smouha, who lie 16th only on three points, are yet to register their maiden top-flight victory.

ENPPI and Masri missed out on a chance to secure provisional top stop too as both teams played out a goalless draw.
