Meteb has recently announced his engagement to 2008 Miss Egypt Yara Naoum, following a brief courtship that stirred a lot of controversy over the past few months.

Some reports mentioned that Ahli's technical staff were angry at the Egypt hitman because he didn't bother to send them invitations, an allegation which he laughed off later.

"That's not true, I always get along well with the coaching staff and nothing has changed," he told Modern TV. "They will all be invited to the marriage ceremony."

Tension between Meteb and local media has grown since his relationship with Naoum, also an up-and-coming actress, came to the surface.

Some papers tended to publicize the relationship in a somewhat sensational way, which enraged the 27-year-old player.

He launched a tirade against Egyptian football journalists, who in return filed a lawsuit against him.
