Zamalek called on the Qatar Football Association to pay the medical expenses of Hussien Yasser, who sustained a major shoulder injury in the 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

The former Ahli man fell down in agony and couldn't get back up after a rough challenge in the second half of the Gulf Cup of Nations match.

He was stretchered off and substituted before examinations showed that he had his shoulder dislocated, a problem that will keep him on the sidelines for several weeks.

"Normally, national teams offer subsidized treatment for their players when they get injured while on international duty," Zamalek board member Tarek Ghoniem told FilGoal.com.

"We didn't agree on Yasser's participation in this tournament in the first place, and that's another reason why the Qatar Football Association has to pay his medical bills."

Yasser incurred the wrath of Zamalek when he opted to join up with Qatar's squad for the regional competition without the consent of the club.

His absence will take a toll on the firepower of the White Knights, who face their arch-rivals Ahli on the New Year's Eve.

It's yet to be known whether or not the pacey winger will be fit for the league Cairo derby.
