Egypt forward Zidan made his long-awaited Dortmund comeback in their 3-0 victory over Ukraine's Karpaty Lviv in the Europa League on Thursday.
The 28-year-old was on the bench before being introduced seven minutes past the hour mark instead of Japanese attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa.
He went close to scoring with a low drive in the second half but Lviv keeper blocked his effort.
It was his first match for German outfit Dortmund since tearing his cruciate ligament in a Bundesliga game last April.
"That Mohamed Zidan made his comeback today was of course very nice. He fitted well into the team and of course he will help us improve," Sahin told Dortmund's official site.
Zidan also played in Egypt's 3-0 victory over Australia in a friendly game last month. He netted the last goal upon converting a penalty kick.
Dortmund haven't been greatly affected by Zidan's lengthy absence, having pulled off a string of impressive results and now they are seven points clear on top of the league table.
The impressive run of Jurgen Klopp's men cast doubt over Zidan's chance of regaining his place at Signal Iduna Park as a regular starter.
