"We agreed terms and the deal shall be announced at a press conference today," Al-Badri told FilGoal.com on Sunday.

"I accepted the offer to manage Merreikh because it is a big club domestically, regionally and continentally.

"Merreikh is a club with high ambitions and that’s what I am used to."

Al-Badri stepped down as Ahli manager after last month's 3-1 defeat at Ismaili, citing 'unbearable pressure' from the fans as the reason for his exit.

The 50-year-old guided the Cairo club to the Egyptian Premier League title last term, following five seasons as assistant to Manuel Jose.

Al-Badri is expected to assign an Egyptian staff with him as ex-Ahli goalkeeping coach Ahmed Nagi has been already selected.
