Free agent Ahmed Samir has finally rejoined Zamalek upon signing a new two-and-a-half-year deal on Tuesday after settling things down with the club.

"Samir has already penned the contract and got 50% of his payments for the first six months," Zamalek's interim coach Galal Ibrahim told FilGoal.com.

The 29-year-old had initially signed a contract with the Cairo giants shortly after being released by Belgian side Lierse in August.

However, FilGoal.com learnt Samir had a disagreement with Zamalek over several financial matters and the contract was annulled later.

For a while he was linked with a move to Harras Hodoud but he eventually worked things out with Zamalek and a new deal was wrapped up.

"I'm really happy to sign this contract," Samir said after putting pen to paper.

"Some people said that I'm not committed to Zamalek while others claimed (head coach) Hossam Hassan is not convinced with my capabilities. But now I proved them all wrong.

"Working with Hossam and his twin brother Ibrahim (football director) will be great, especially that Ibrahim is my right-back idol.

"I wish I could be as competent as he was."

Zamalek were searching for a right-back amid the inconsistency of Ahmed Ghanem and the lack of experience of youngster Omar Gaber.

Samir, 29, kicked off his professional career at Baladeya and then switched to Zamalek, where he spent three years.

He also plied his trade at Hodoud before moving to Belgium.
