Ittihad, who are languishing at the bottom of the league table, saw their winless streak extend to six games upon succumbing to the embarrassing defeat on Friday.

The Alexandrian side's inability to redeem themselves was the reason why Moselhi stepped down, according to Ittihad's general director Gasser Mounir.

"Moselhi sent his resignation via fax to the governor of Alexandria," Mounir told FilGoal.com.

Club vice-president Seif Naeb is expected to be appointed as interim chairman till the elections in July 2011.
