Qatar manager Bruno Metsu says it’s a ‘must’ to have Zamalek forward Hussein Yasser available for warm-up matches ahead of the next month’s Asian Cup of Nations.

Yasser has been recalled to the Qatar squad for two pre-tournament matches against Iran and North Korea on December 28 and 31, which means he is set to miss the derby clash against Ahli on the 30th.

Consequently, Zamalek are reluctant to release him for international duty, much to Qatar manager’s consternation.

“It is essential to have Yasser in those two friendly matches. It is important for us and for him,” Frenchman Metsu was quoted by Qatari media.

“I must see him play before the tournament especially after the injury he sustained in the Gulf Cup of Nations.”

Yasser dislocated his shoulder in the regional Gulf competition last month and has just returned to action in Friday’s 2-0 win over Wadi Degla.

The 28-year-old is hoping to lead his country’s frontline in the Asian finals that will take place on home soil on the seventh of January.
