Mohamed Zidan played more than an hour as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Swiss champions Basel 4-0 in a mid-season warm-up game on Sunday.

Zidan, who is trying to regain match fitness following knee surgery last year, started the game behind Robert Lewandowski and assisted the Polish forward with his first goal.

"I am satisfied with my performance. I made the first goal and was involved in the second," Zidan told Dortmund's website.

All goals were scored after the break by Lewandowski, Nuri Sahin, Antonio da Silva and Daniel Ginczek.

Winter champions Dortmund resume their Bundesliga campaign against Bayer Leverkusen on the 14th of January, aiming to preserve their 10-point lead at the league summit.
