ENPPI’s Walid Soliman had a nightmare game against his former club Petrojet, who grabbed an emphatic 3-1 victory from petroleum rivals in Cairo.

Soliman, who left Petrojet for ENPPI in the summer, conceded a dubious second-half penalty before going off for an early bath near the end.

The Egypt midfielder was unlucky with the penalty though, having clearly won the ball with a tackle against former mate Osama Mohamed, only for referee Osama Al-Husseini to point to the spot.

Mohamed Koffi converted the penalty home on 50 minutes, while a furious Soliman was booked for dissent.

The visitors then scored a quickfire double through midfielders Mohamed Shaaban and Coffie Bekoe on 77 and 79 minutes.

Four minutes from the end, Soliman received his second yellow card after committing a foul to put an end to his ill-fated night.

Substitute Vincent Die Fonait headed in a late consolation for ENPPI, who saw their four-match winning streak end in frustration.

Stoycho Mladenov’s side missed out on moving second as they remained third with 26 points, while Petrojet jumped to fourth place on 25.

Draws

Elsewhere, three bottom-of-the-table matches curiously ended in draws, with no team able to win ground in the league table.

In Hurghada, Gouna were held to a 2-2 draw by Gaish, who pegged back instantly on two occasions.

Ahmed Omran’s 48th minute opener was replied to by Amer Sabri seconds later. Shawki Al-Saied restored the home side’s lead in the 68th minute, only for Yassin Abdul-Aal to respond in less than a minute.

Bottom club Ittihad secured a point with a 1-1 draw at Arab Contractors, while Smouha played out a 2-2 draw with relegation rivals Wadi Degla in Alexandria.
