Nearly 300 people have been killed and thousands injured in different governorates during the political unrest that started on January 25, forcing off all sports competitions in the country.
While the Ahli squad are on an open break from training, members of the team thought about making a collective charitable contribution.
“We agreed on creating a donation box to help the families of those who lost their lives during the events,” Egypt and Ahli full-back Sayed Moawad told FilGoal.com.
Midfielder Shehab Ahmed also revealed that the contribution will not be just financial, saying that he and his teammates are ready to make blood donations for the wounded.
“It won’t be just money. There are several blood-donation campaigns and we are willing to be among the first to contribute,” he said.
The Ahli team are expected to resume training in the upcoming few days.
