The 27-year-old has been out of action since November due a knee injury which forced him to have surgery by the end of last year.

He is expected to compete with current first-choice keeper Ahmed Adel for a place between the posts as the league champions prepare to play a number of friendlies in the next few weeks.

Manuel Jose’s team will face Tersana, Harras Hodoud and MCDR before their resuming the league campaign, which is currently on hold due to the recent Egyptian Revolution.

Ahli’s next fixture will be against Police Union at a date that has yet to be determined by the Egyptian FA.
