Egypt will call on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone their Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa.

The Pharaohs will visit group leaders South Africa, aiming for at least one point to improve their qualification hopes.

The match is scheduled for March 24th but Egypt are looking to postpone it by around three months because of the Egyptian Premier League stoppage.

"The team must have suffered a dip in form after the league was halted, so we want to put off the game with South Africa," assistant coach Hamada Sedki told FilGoal.com.

All sports competitions were indefinitely stopped in Egypt after demonstrations broke out and turned into a full-scale revolt that overthrew former president Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.

"We will send a letter to CAF on Wednesday. We will ask them to play the game in June should they accept our request," Sedki added.

Egypt won the African Cup of Nations three times on the trot in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
