Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan believes that the safe passage of Sunday’s Champions League victory over Ulinzi Stars was more important than the result.

The Whites coasted to a 5-0 aggregate victory after winning 1-0 on the night, courtesy of a second-half Shikabala strike.

“What’s more important than the victory is that life is back and that represents a lot to the Egyptian people,” Hassan said after the game at Military Academy Stadium.

“The return of football means that life has returned to normal in Egypt. The pressure that the Egyptian people faced recently will be much less.”

According to Egyptian FA chairman Samir Zaher, the Zamalek-Ulinzi match was a final rehearsal to the season restart in Egypt following the recent unrest in the country.
