The Egyptian FA announced it would consider capping footballers’ salaries, amid pressure from various segments of the community following the Egyptian Revolution.

The majority of Egyptian Premier League players voiced their dismay with the notion and Dutchman Wotte’s opinion was hardly different.

“Footballers all over the world are highly-paid and that’s because they make many sacrifices,” the Ismaili coach told FilGoal.com.

“Players exert a lot of effort, are away from their homes for long spells and always have to be in good physical shape.

“In general, I respect the rules of the country where I work, but I believe that investment would the optimal solution for clubs.”

Ismaili chairman Nasr Aboul-Hassan suggested limiting club budgets to a maximum of EGP 20million.
