Nearly a couple of months ago, demonstrations broke out all over Egypt to turn into a full-scale revolt that overthrew ex-president Hosni Mubarak on February 11.

Consequently, the league was halted for quite a while before the Egyptian FA decided a week ago to resume the competition on April 13.

FA officials are yet to comment on Gouna's refusal.

"We refuse to carry on playing in the league like that; we will suffer the most from the intensive fixtures," spokesman of Gouna's football team Ahmed Al-Sohaifi told FilGoal.com.

"We play our (home) matches in Hurghada; we are located far away from most of the other teams. We are the farthest.

"Playing a match every three days will make us suffer from unbearable exhaustion.

"One of FIFA's conditions of the league recommencement is security, and that is not maintained in Egypt these days.

"All teams also have to agree on the resumption and we don't agree," Al-Sohaifi concluded.
