Zamalek were relieved to learn that the total amount of damages caused by their fans at Cairo Stadium is not more than an approximate EGP 275,000.

Television reports claimed that the Cairo club will be forced to pay ‘millions’ in compensation for what their fans have done in the infamous Champions League game with Club Africain.

Moreover, stadium chief Abdul-Aziz Amin said after the game that initial estimates indicate that the damages are huge.

However, it seems that the crisis-hit Zamalek were let off the hook after all.

“The Cairo Stadium management informed us that the total damages equal EGP 273,000, not millions like some reports claimed,” Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim told FilGoal.com.

“We hope we could be able to pay the compensation as soon as possible and of course we welcome the contribution of the ultras group.”

Zamalek ultras ‘White Knights’ announced they will contribute to the cost of damages after admitting being responsible for part of the incident that marred Saturday’s game.
