Abdul-Wahed led a group of 12 players into filing a complaint against Zamalek over unpaid wages recently, revealing his frustration at the club management and board.

Consequently, football director Ibrahim Hassan told Modern Sport TV on Sunday that the veteran goalie ‘could be stripped of the captaincy if he wants to leave the club’.

Abdul-Wahed, who has been with Zamalek since 1999, replied angrily to Hassan’s comments as he accused the latter of insulting him.

Insult

“Ibrahim Hassan is the reason behind my complaint against the club,” Abdul-Wahed told FilGoal.com.

“He insulted me before the trip to Tunisia last month and even so I played for the sake of the fans and the manager (Hossam).

“I do not accept being insulted inside the club, and if things don’t change I will have to end my spell with Zamalek by the end of the season.”

Back in November, Abdul-Wahed's former goalkeeping partner at Zamalek Essam Al-Hadari accused the Hassan twins of using foul language against him during his time at the club.

Meanwhile, a number of Zamalek players jumped to the defense of their captain through television conversations.

The likes of Mohamed Abdul-Shafi, Hazem Emam, Alaa Ali, Ahmed Gaafar and Ibrahim Salah insisted that Abdul-Wahed is ‘not leading a revolt against the club’.
