MCDR ended their six-match winless streak by beating a second-string Ittihad side 4-0 in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday.

Ittihad, playing with the U20s after 22 first-team players went on strike last week, were led by Cameroonian duo Marc Mboua and Edet Otobong.

Ahmed Sari’s boys held on to end the first half with a goalless draw, but conceded four after the break from Hussein Hamdi, Ayman Abdul-Aziz, Fouad Salama and Omar Nagdi.

The win helped MCDR jump to seventh on 21 points, while Ittihad remained rock bottom with 11.

Degla do it again

At Green Mountain, Wadi Degla claimed a priceless 3-0 victory over relegation rivals Arab Contractors.

First-half goals from Ahmed Dorgham and Ashour Al-Taqi were followed by a late strike from Mostafa Talaat to give the newcomers another famous win over the one-time league champs.

The win is Degla’s fourth this term, two of which have come against Contractors.

Walter Meeuws’ side, however, remain in the danger zone with 15 points, three ahead of second-from-bottom Contractors.
